The Production Of First Milking Colostrum Powder
The colostrum is collected from cows directly after calving. The supplying dairy farmers are asked to fill cans with first milking colostrum. By using the au-Bain Marie method the colostrum is thawed by low temperature. When the colostrum is thawed a sample from every can is taken.
The sample is analysed on the level of antibodies to make sure that the quality corresponds to the standard. On the basis of the level of antibodies the supplying dairy farmers are paid.
The thawed colostrum is spray dried via a unique drying method. The temperature stays low during the process which makes sure that the bioactive components are preserved. After the drying process several quality tests are conducted, followed by the packaging of the powder.
